Three Bears Park (Delancey Park)

Nestled in between the historic homes of Society Hill, Three Bears Park offers residents and tourists a safe and stimulating sanctuary for play. This playground, designed for toddlers and preschoolers, sports a sturdy set of slides and monkey bars, baby swings, and a soft rubber surface throughout the play area. Little ones can be seen lining up to take their turn on the spiral and covered slides or to ride the bouncing seahorse and tiger.

The Park’s surrounding slate patios are often decorated with chalk masterpeices by the neighborhood’s local pint-sized artists. The Park’s namesake, a concrete statue of the Three Bears, is also almost always adorned with colorful chalk accessories. A large round garden, cared for by neighborhood volunteers, blossoms during the spring and summer months. Hidden within this fertile greenery is a path of mosiac bear prints that cativate and inspire many of the small visitors.

A good supply of benches for parents and caregivers provides adults with comfortable seating. There is also plenty of space to set up blankets, making it a perfect location for birthdays and celebrations in the warmer months. Located close to South Street, plenty of shops, restaurants and historic sites are within walking distance for those looking to explore more of this beautiful section of Philadelphia.
